Discount shopping haul

New YouTube video: Discount Shopping Haul! http://youtu.be/Iw-2gjS4fUs

Unfortunately we cannot thrift everything so sometimes we have to go to "real" stores, but when you have been thrifting as long as I have is hard to pay retail so the next best thing is a great sale!! My favorite things to shop for is clothes and accessories but I am really cheap so I try to get a deal and everything, so I thought I would include these shopping sprees on my blog too.

Dollar Stores:
Everybody knows about dollar stores, the ones I go to in my area are the Dollar Tree and the 99cent Only Store. We also have the Dollar General and the Family Dollar but not everything is a $1 so sometimes it can be pricey depending on what you're looking for. This weekend I went to the 99cent Only Store for hand soap refills and dish sponges and I ended up finding so much more...

I got seven boxes of crackers these retail for 2 for $4 so this was an awesome deal. I wanted to get more but do I really want that many carbs at my disposal? I also picked up a package of pepperoni, 2 Argon Oil shower gels, a dental soaking cup for my retainer and of course I found some junky jewelry and the hair doughnut that I showed my video.
Total: 19 items for $19.00 +tax

Rue21:
This is one of my very favorite places to get cute and trendy items on the cheap. It is in the same price ranges Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe but I feel that they have better sales. If you're concerned about sizing or if the clothes look "too young" checkout the accessory section for purses, belts, shoes, and jewelry. I even found tights and makeup in the clearance section and some of their perfume is really nice too. It is also a great place to buy gifts if you have teens for both boys and girls.
When I went this weekend I wanted to use my $5 off any $20 purchase coupon and I wanted to get as close to $20 as possible. This time I felt I would get more bang for my buck with clearence jewelry. What do you think? I got 6 pieces for $22.94+ tax

Ross:
So every bargain shopper knows that Ross, Marshall's and TJ Maxx is the place to go for great deals on clothing and things for home but of course this is almost like going to a thrift store because you never know what you're going to find. So we stopped by to take a look and I found a few things ...

The dress was marked down to $6.99 and the tiger sweater was $12.99. My personal spending limit is no more than $10 per item, but my mom said she wanted to treat me, so I broke the rules...LOL

Walmart:
I personally enjoy having eclectic taste and wearing unique things but sometimes you just need a white tank top or a simple black cardigan to go with something and since you are probably going to Walmart anyway something may just catch you're eye and that's exactly what happened with this sweater...

I really didn't want to pay $9.98 but I waited three months for it to go on sale and it never did :( I looked everywhere for a fluorescent pink sweater and I never even saw one) so I had to break down and get it.

What do you think? Did I get a good deals or did I overspend? Let me know and if you are a fellow bargain shopper lets connect because I like to check out your finds too!!

Empties: January 2014

Here is the link to my new YouTube video

What is old is new again!

Believe me I have tried high end and low end, all-natural and every other kind of skincare fad you can think of and sometimes you just have to go back to the oldies but goodies.

My mom has always use these products and now I am too. I remove my makeup at night with Ponds cold cream and a remove my eye make up with the Jergens all purpose face cream. Both are extreamly emollient but do a great job by breaking down the make up especially waterproof eyeliner and mascara. They will leave your face feeling supple not dry and tight.
recently changed my foundation, for the past two years I have been using Revlon Colorstay foundation and have been very satisfied however I feel like my skin type is changing so I needed to find something that had a little bit more moisture but with the same full coverage. So I started using True Match by L'Oreal in the color porcelain. I really like the color and the coverage is not as full as I am used to but it covers what I need it to and it is really long-lasting.
I also bought the matching concealer stick in fair/light but I encountered the same problem I always do, this concealer is not light enough for me and the consistency is to thick for me to use under the eyes and it looks cakey under powder. For now I am using it on blemishes and the spots on my neck but I am on the hunt for yet another concealer.
Another oldie but goodie! Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder. I actually used to use this powder in high school. I    rediscovered it a few years ago and it matched so well with the Revlon Colorstay foundation it has become my go to face powder. I use the shade naturally neutral and I found 3 in the clearance bin at CVS so I bought them all because I am going to be devistated if they are being discontinued. I am hoping they are just changing the packaging because for the price this is a great value!
I have chosen my replacement for my blush and bronzer, it is the Elf contouring blush and bronzing powder in St Lucia. I can't wait to try it...Elf haul and review coming soon!!
I always like to have a backup foundation for when you don't want to do your whole face but you want to have a little color when you walk out the door. (You never know who you're going to see at the grocery store.) I picked up this Wet and Wild Intuitive Blend shade matching foundation/primer. It has little beads that pop when you blend it on to your skin, it has the coverage of the tinted moisturizer. I found the product very drying and it made my cheeks and nose itch and burn. My face is not particularly sensitive so I don't know if it was a reaction with my moisturizer that I used but I tried it several times and I had the same result so this is a product that I was not able to use:(

So I replaced with this with Avon Extra-lasting cream to powder foundation in porcelain. It has great coverage and right now it is the winter and I'm not having to put powder on top so it is really a one-step foundation to just get out and go.
This is a tried and true favorite! The Elf eyelid primer! When I ran out of the regular formula I had no idea that it came another shades so I picked up the Pearl and the Golden. Such a great product and for $1 you can't beat the value.
Thanks Emilynoel83 for recommending the Lash Discovory Mascara by Maybelline so great for the lower lashes! It is on my list to buy again!
The Maybelline eyeliner on the other hand was horrible:( Define-A-Line was so messy, I would put it in my waterline and in a few hours it was smudged under my eyes and in all my wrinkles. Yuck! :(
I picked up this Essence All About Matt face powder on a whim and I love it. It is great for touch ups and it is so light just to mattify your makeup. It also does not effect the color of your makeup, big plus!
Watch my video for more reviews and let me know what your go to products are!

Review: Covergirl Bombshell Volume Mascara

I used my $3.00 coupon from the Sunday paper to buy this at Walmart because they had the lowest price $8.94.
It is a 2 step process, step one is for volume and step 2 is for color and length.

Here is the mascara on one eye compared to the other.

12 hours later no flakes and no clumps! I noticed that my lashes did not hold a curl very well but my lashes are very straight so that happens with most mascaras. While I wish it made my lashes even longer,  not having flakes at the end if the day makes this a winner!

What is your favorite mascara and what would you recommend I try next? Basically I want them to look fake without having to wear fake eyelashes.
